How To Choose The Best PC Gaming Headset

How To Choose The Best PC Gaming Headset

A good PC gaming headset is almost a must if you want to have the best gaming experience. Most games nowadays are embedded with high definition audio effects. To really enjoy the game and be in the game, a good gaming headset is necessary.

So what constitutes a good PC gaming headset?

A good computer gaming headset must be able to provide comfort to the user. This is necessary since you will be wearing it for a long period of time. There is only one way to test whether a headset is comfortable or not, and that is to try it out before you make your purchase.

Most of the time, the comfort factor is dependent on the:

  • Padding - Is it thick and soft enough to protect your ear?
  • Ear cups - Is it big enough to contain your ear?
  • Headband - Is it freely adjustable to suit the size of your head?
  • Weight - Is it too heavy for your ear to carry?
Put it on for 15 minutes and you will know whether it is suitable for you or not.

Sound Quality

A good PC gaming headset must have the ability to produce great sound quality. While different people perceive sound differently, you can use these few guideline to distinguish a headset with good sound quality from a bad one.

A gaming headset with a powerful bass will show significant differences in first person shooting game such as Counterstrike. You will be able to hear clearly the bullets flying around you and distinct explosion in the background.

Surround Sound

Surround sound effect is necessary to create the realism in your gameplay. Those PC gaming headsets with 5.1 digital audio encoded will be useful to help you identify the enemy that is sneaking behind you or shooting at you

Noise Cancellation

Some gaming headset uses an external microphone to pick up external noise and invert them to cancel out any unwanted noise. This is extremely useful if you are always playing in a noisy environment, such as an Internet cafe.

Cable Length

The cable length will determine how far away you can stay behind the screen. A typical gaming headset should have a cable length of 2m. Anything shorter than this length will restrict your movement and cause inconvenience to you. If you are playing game console, such as Xbox or PS3, in your living room, you might consider getting a headset with longer cable or an extra extensible cable to connect to your headset.

Wireless Headset

If you always move around and do not wish to be bothered by the cable, you can choose the wireless gaming headset that makes use of Bluetooth or RF technology. A word of caution, wireless headsets might be more prone to noise interference and/or loss of signal during the transmission, which can lead to static, pops or annoying noise.

Some of the PC gaming headsets are geared with a microphone to allow interaction during gameplay. This might be a useful feature that you want to include in your gaming headset.

Volume Control

This may seem a trivial feature, but it matter a lot when you are far away from your sound system. For a gaming headset with surround sound feature, it would be useful to have an inline volume control to control the individual speaker levels. You can customize the volume setting for each speaker to enhance your gaming experience.

Force feedback gaming headsets make use of vibration to try to recreate the physical sensation of bass frequencies. The headset can vibrate in sympathy with the low frequencies in the audio signal, so that listeners both hear and feel the bass.

These should sum up most of the features found in a good PC gaming headset.

In conclusion, choosing a good PC gaming headset can be a very personal thing. A headset might fit comfortably on others, but not on you. You will have to try out the headset before deciding whether it is suitable for you.

The rapid growth of computer online games and the wave of wireless value-added services gave birth to mobile phone online games. Mobile phone personal game companies started to develop online games. During 2005 to 2007, more enterprises stepped into the field. However, due to the limit of operating environment and subscriber recognition, its developing step was not that intense, nor was the competition. As a result, online games could earn enough money to support its running, so most companies didn't have to invest huge capital for sustaining operation.

2008 has brought along the period of the Third Generation, which further brought along upsurge of merger among mobile phone game enterprises. A competition pattern has taken initial shape. Meanwhile the industry as a whole has drawn much attention from investors, and investment has poured in. After 2011, the market will become mature in Britain, and government will attach proper supervision over mobile phone online games. At that time, there will be a new capital integration, and a new market pattern will come into being. Then the second investment peak will be welcomed and the upsurge fades at last.

FIFA World Cup 2010 on You PC - Time to Start Preparing

If you are not like me, you must be a football lover. Let me use the words "soccer" and "football" to mean the same thing whether you are from Europe or America. This time around, all attention is focused to South Africa. It's an historic event in the history of this country and Africa as a whole.
Looking at the official Match Schedule as released and published on FIFA's website and the number of the ticket applications received during the first sales phase that ended at midnight on 31 March with a total of 1,635,136 applications, one can begin to imagine the scramble.

The matches will be played in the following towns/areas:

  • Cape Town,
  • Durban,
  • Johannesburg,
  • Mangaung/Bloemfontein,
  • Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabeth,
  • Nelspruit,
  • Polokwane,
  • Rustenburg,
  • Tshwane/Pretoria.

One sure thing is that the whole world will not be at the pitches, not even all the South Africans. However, everyone that stays back is not necessarily not a lover of football. A good number of reasons account for this. You can start naming from lack of time because of other priorities, finance, and many others. If you are NOT packing your bags, there are other ways to be part of the tournament.

Don't ask me how because I know you certainly have a TV set with foreign channels. If your TV set can't follow you to the office or beach, I think the Internet can do. There are lots and lots of sites out there that will stream live images during the time. Also check the Net for some desktop applications that will bring the event closer to you.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 Vs Fifa 2009

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 Vs Fifa 2009

Well the time of year has again approached where the two rival football games go head to head in the Christmas war. Who will come out the most successful? Who knows, only time can tell. But let's have a look at both games and rate each one.

Fifa 2009

First we take a look at Fifa 2009, the game which is highly anticipated every year looks to have improved itself on the game play side of things. From the start Fifa have this time wanted to get the game completely right, they begun the creation of Fifa by gathering criticisms from gamers and critics and it has sure paid off.

The game is much more improved then as of previous years, including ball physics and the collision system. You can also switch the camera view to any specification that you would like. But it does not end there, Fifa have made some amazing additions to the game such as the Be a Pro Seasons mode, the Adidas Live Season, and the 10-on-10 football. This all sets Fifa up to potentially dominate the football games industry once again.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009

Well pro evolution soccer look to have put its gear stick on full throttle, and have realised they needed to bring back the game that won so many peoples hearts on the PS2. The game play is very much similar to that of its golden days, but it looks as though PES have not really considered the graphics side of things very well.

But the positive site of things is that the game play is very natural in itself and not to mention that they have the UEFA champion's league licence, they also have Manchester Utd's and Liverpool's licenses, but besides from that the rest of the players have obscure names.

Well in my eyes there can only be one winner, Fifa's new revamped look and game play over the last few years has set them up to dominate the gaming industry. There graphics completely trumps over those on PES, and with Fifa owning a lot of the unique licences, PES still has a long way to go. The once dominating football game for the PS2 has been outwit and outrun by the all so mighty Fifa.

This being said though, the overall game play of PES does still grow on you after a while, but as technology progresses that just is not enough and more needs to be done.

Strategy 1 - Mind Game

First and foremost, you must know your opponents. In order words, be aware of the characters they use. Knowing what kind of characters they use, enables you to know what kind of attacking method they will proceed with. Therefore, you can counter them along with your allies when the right time has come.

Secondly, underestimate your opponents. In many cases, gamers often gave chase to their opponents who suffer certain amount of damages, however they aren't aware that an ambush has been planned just for them. In these situations, we would recommend you not to give chase to avoid losing valuable gold to your opponent. It would put your team in a rather more disadvantage situation if your opponents acquire more gold for stronger items during the early game.

Strategy 2 - Last Hit

Last hit is a very important technique as it allows you to acquire a greater amount of gold and it will determine which party has more lane control at the later part of the game. Also, last hit will enable you to have sufficient gold you need to acquire powerful items you need stay in front of the game.

One of the technique to make a successful last hit is through the "ALT" key. It is for gamers to observe the life line of the creeps and the last blow should be made when their life run low. Timing is one of the very important aspect in this strategy.

Strategy 3 - Creeps Blocking

Creeps Blocking requires a lot of practice to be perfect. The reason is because you will be dealing with the AI and the patterns are different every time. However, once you can the hang of it, you will know how to deal with them effectively.

The main objective for creep blocking is to enable the opponents' creeps to be nearer to your tower which is a much safer place to stand. This brings lots of benefits in terms of golds and experiences.

Strategy 4 - team tactics

DotA is a team based game and it is essential for every team members to maintain good senses of communication. Confident will eventually grow when the team goes into battle with full commitment.

During Attacks and defends, they are to be executed with proper planning and agreement among members. This build trusts among everyone. With such cohesiveness being built, the speed of the team's action will increase. When the opponents cannot keep up with your team's attacking pace, victory is surely yours.

Warnings are also another important factor. Team members are to inform one another in terms of missing opponents in their lane. This is to avoid the chances of back stabs and ambushes.

Strategy 5 - Item Proficiency

Understanding the features of every item allows the gamer to save much time in farming and buy the right item which enhances the true ability of the particular hero. Every gamer must have a preplanned idea of what to buy at the start of the game, and what to aim for in your inventory list. Whether is it for farming purpose, mana regen or healthy regeneration, all have to be well-planned. This is to prepare you to be a good lane controller. In summary, by understanding the complimentary item build for your hero will boost its power and direct damage.

At the start of the game, it is best to continue farming in your designated lane. However in order to achieve that, you must control your lane well and cut the amount of time spent returning to the fountain. By knowing the items needed to be built, you will save more time returning to the fountain, thus more gold and experience can be attained when more time is spent on the battlefield.

DOTA Strategy

DOTA Strategy

DOTA stands for Defence of the Ancients. It is a mod for Warcraft 3. Since its inception, there have been a number of good DOTA Strategy guides written about it.

Here are 7 DOTA Strategy 101 tips to help you get into the game.

Tip #1 Farming

Farming means killing creeps or neutrals for gold. The more enemy creeps you kill, the more gold you'll receive. Sometimes when farming becomes difficult, player may turn to farming neutral characters for extra gold.

Tip #2 Last Hit

Last Hit means moving in close to hit the enemy creep for gold. Damaging an enemy creep does not provide gold, so its beneficial for a non-ranged character to move in for a last hit to receive this benefit. This also allows you to stay out of range of the opposing team.

Making a last hit requires a feel of the timing to deal direct damage for different characters. You can get a feel of this simply by playing the game often. A good strategy is to keep the thumb on the "ALT" key so that you can readily see the life line of the creeps, and only move in to get a last hit when its life is low.

Tip #3 Hot Key

Hot Key is an essential DOTA strategy. Different spells are tied to different buttons which when pressed will activate the spell. Since battles in DOTA last only a few seconds, clicking on the icons with the mouse is a little slow.

Tip #4 Mouse

Getting a good mouse is important for DOTA. You'll also enjoy the gaming experience more with a good mouse, skates, and mouse pad.

Tip #5 Item Build

Having the right item build will increase the power of your character. Some characters require more health or more speed, or more mana as the game progresses. Knowing the complimentary item build for your character will increase its power and direct damage.

Tip #6 Team Play

In competitive DOTA play, its necessary to play in groups. Public DOTA STRATEGY and Competitive DOTA strategy are different with the latter being more difficult and emphasis on team cooperation.

Tip #7 Mana Required

Always take note of the amount of mana required to cast 2 spells. 1 spell alone will normally not be sufficient to take down an opponent.

Tip #8 Item Cost

By understanding what items need to be built, you'll be able to know the cost and time your return to the fountain. Less trips back to the fountain means more time in the battle field, which translates to more gold and experience for your DOTA character.
